Despite best intentions processes can very often be designed without considering the environment in which they will be operated, the needs of the customer and the requirements of users and stakeholders.

As we can see on the right, this can lead to processes and designs which may look good on paper being ineffective once implemented in the real world.

The analysis process is the first step of design and good analysis can lead to a great design.
